BLOG 4: 21 K’s AND 24 POINTS…
That was one of the worst weekends of my sports fandom in quite some time. The White Sox, on their THIRD chance to win their series and play for the pennant, lost by striking out an almost incredulous 21 times. TWENTY. ONE. There are only 27 outs in a 9-inning game, folks. And Jose Ramirez hit a pitch that no one should hit a homer on, but he did. Can’t really blame Sean Burke for that one, it’s not like he hung a curveball in the strike zone or anything. But, the fact they were even in that position after losing 100+ games in 2024 and 2025 is a great accomplishment. But, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck, because it does.
And the Bears…my biggest takeaway is the secondary looked old and slow. And by secondary, I mean Jaylon Johnson specifically. The issue is going to be that’s all on tape now (as if the last few weeks weren’t) and they are going to exploit this secondary to no end for the rest of the season. Which means, they need more talent to rush the passer to take some of the pressure off of the secondary. Khalil Mack, anyone? They are going to need to do something because they looked horrible. Onto the Falcons on Sunday, who might be without Penix, who came out of the game with a rib injury. As long as the Falcons have Bijan Robinson, they are dangerous. It might be a stack the box and let whoever the QB is attempt to beat us, which, with a secondary that looked that bad, might not be a great idea.
Hope everyone has a good day, we’ll see you in a bit, peeps.
