BLOG 3: LIAM, NOEL, ALEX AND GEDDY…

So, I watched the Oasis doc this afternoon/evening and thought it was fantastic. I thought it was going to be a more complete Oasis doc, but it really focused on last year’s tour and how the tour really did bring out the best out of not only the band, but the brothers as a family and the fans. Oh, the fans. Watching especially the first show in Cardiff and how the fans basically went to church. Seeing something that they hoped to see and thought they never would, but all of a sudden, there they were. Singing, laughing, hugging the people around them and the tears. The tears flowed, but they were certainly tears of joy.

Rewind to July of this year. My dear friend Jeff and I went to go see Rush. We were excited to see them, but we were in the same boat. With the death of the Professor, Neil Peart, we both thought there was no way in hell we were going to see Rush again. That was it, that was the finality of the band. But…there we were…seeing something that we had hoped to see, but thought we never would. I didn’t shed tears, necessarily, but it certainly was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life and that is not an exaggeration. Music will do that. It brings out emotion like nothing else. And the fans at any concert want to hear that one song. THE song. As it turned out, I heard an entire collection of songs from THE album…Moving Pictures, as they performed the entire album in order coming out of the intermission.

While I was watching the Oasis doc, all I could do is put myself back in that spot at the United Center. The spot where the picture on my front page was taken. 16,000+ people all seeing something they thought they would never see again. Another dear friend, Jason, saw Oasis in Chicago at Soldier Field and I haven’t asked him, but I would be willing to bet he felt the same as the fans in Cardiff…or London….or Buenos Aires…or a bunch of grey hairs at the United Center watching 70+ year old Canadians musically testify.

Everyone have a good one, thanks for reading!
